Kenyan Rally Driver Maxine Wahome Freed on Cash Bail After Assaulting Boyfriend

Celebrated Kenyan rally driver Maxine Wahome was on Wednesday released on Sh100,000 cash bail pending investigations into an incident where she is accused of assaulting her boyfriend Asad Khan.

Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi declined a request by police to hold Maxine for 14 days to complete investigations into the matter, saying there were no compelling reasons to keep the 24-year-old rally driver in custody.

Instead, the magistrate directed Maxine to report to the case Investigating Officer Stephen Kibei at the Kilimani police station weekly.

Maxine was arrested at an apartment in Kilimani on Tuesday after allegedly assaulting and inflicting serious injuries on her boyfriend, who is currently hospitalized in critical condition.

The court heard that the matter was reported to Kilimani police station by Asad’s brother Adila Khan after being informed of the incident by the management of the apartment.

Officers from Kilimani police station visited the scene and found that Asad had already been rushed to the hospital while Maxine was still present but appeared disturbed.

“On further examination, one of the window pane glasses was broken as well as two-door window pane glasses were also broken,” read court documents.

“The scene was documented where forensic evidence to wit blood stains and other items were collected and the respondent was escorted to Kilimani Police Station where she was booked for the offense of grievous harm.”

Asad, who is also a rally driver, was initially admitted at the High Dependency Unit of the Nairobi Hospital with serious deep cuts on the right ankle but was later transferred to Avenue Hospital where he is being treated.

On Wednesday, Asad’s family appealed for blood donation, saying he is in a serious critical condition and is fighting for his life.

“At this point, we wish to request all friends and well-wishers to kindly keep him in your prayers. The hospital team at Avenue hospital ICU require 5 pints of blood group A+ or O+ for his ongoing treatment,” the family said.

Some are wondering why the balls were spared.Well, for now, its safe to assume they are intact. From what I have read, usually when the balls and the bat are tempered with, they are usually the ” offending organs” i,e they dipped into a hole that is not theirs. Here the “offending organ” might me the heart.
