President Kenyatta Opens Up About His Close Relationship with Former Youth Fund Boss, Late Bruce Odhiambo

President Kenyatta on Saturday opened up about his close relationship with former Youth Enterprise and Development Fund board Chairman Bruce Odhiambo, who passed away last week.

Speaking during Odhiambo’s burial ceremony in Muhoroni, Kisumu County President Uhuru has disclosed that the former music producer helped him straighten up his son Jomo.

“He was a mentor to many young people including my very own son Jomo whom he helped me straighten out and that is why I have come here today to celebrate a man who means a lot to my family,” Kenyatta says.

Kenyatta has also revealed that he sat in the same class with Bruce at St. Mary’s and their friendship lasted until his death.

“He was a true Kenyan; he had no tribal or religious boundaries all he wanted is to make friends. He recognized you for who you are and not what you are,” Uhuru says.

“He took me to Kibera so many times to see how we could improve the lives of our youth. He did all these because he understood the needs of the people,” Uhuru adds.

“We who have been left behind we must ask ourselves what we can do to emulate him.”

Kenyatta has promised to support the family that Odhiambo has left behind. Bruce succumbed to a heart attack while receiving treatment at a hospital in Nairobi on January 8th.

“I am making this promise not as the president but as a brother of the man who is lying here. We shall ensure these children complete education and settle in life, we shall support you to keep his company alive and moving because he would have done the same for us,” President Uhuru says.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga, who has also attended the burial, has echoed President Uhuru’s sentiments about Bruce.

“He touched generations, those who were older than him, his age-mates and younger than him. He loved people and has changed the lives of many young people,” Raila says

“All we can say Bruce has lived a good life and it is a testimony of good upbringing.”

  1. What about the jubilee…
What about the jubilee administration’s close relationship with corruption? That is what Kenyans are interested in not your inability to be a proper male influence to son.

  2. I am confused with Uhuru…
I am confused with Uhuru. Never manage to work him out. Bruce was from the hood of Eastlands and Uhuru tells us he went to school with him? Mhh….then he strengthened his son up for him….Huyu mtu ana jambo and now I see why he is always red eyed. He is the real imposter! From rags to riches maybe for Bruce…lakini where does Uhuru fit in? I now see why this gova is full of hood like brothers. Their is a common thread emerging. R.I.P Bruce.
