Kenya is set to receive an additional $500,000 (Sh50 million) from the United States government to boost its fight against the coronavirus disease.
This brings the total US support for Kenya’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic to $1 million (Sh100 million).
The US Agency for International Development (USAID) will implement the response in partnership with the Health Ministry as well as county governments.
US Ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter assured that the US will stand with the government and the people of Kenya to ensure the pandemic is defeated.
McCarter said USAID will from this week conduct county-level training sessions on Covid-19 beginning with Kitui, Kajiado, and Kwale counties.
A pool of national and county trainers as well as 700 health workers, lab technicians, and other frontline workers in 33 counties will undergo training through the USAID’s Medicines, Technologies, and Pharmaceutical Services Program.
The training is meant to prepare healthcare workers to handle suspected and confirmed Covid-19 cases.
Kenya has so far recorded 225 Covid-19 cases, 10 fatalities, and 53 recoveries.

“By creating dependency, you…
“By creating dependency, you create
power and need for yourself”
Kenya government is a known…
Kenya government is a known beggar. Let it keep on begging the White man. And therein, cash to loot will be available.
Kenyans and Africans, let us…
Kenyans and Africans, let us ignore this help. I am sure those who give us aid are tired now of doing so after 60 years. Even a normal child is considered a grown-up who can help himself after 18 years.
We need to let our helpers loose. Who wants to be burdened with helping another for ever? It’s time that we take responsibility and be ashamed of help from those who have put so much effort over the years to give us “guidance” , to “feed” us, and to tell us when we go wrong. I am sure African leaders know and we know we are over 18 years of age.
By doing so, our helpers will be very happy to see the job they have been doing has finally paid off.
That will mean- No foreign help in medicine and vaccinations; no foreign education; no foreign old clothes; no foreign food!! no foreign religion; no tourism. This quarantine should wake us up as adults. The quarantine is finally telling Africans, you are on your own. No more help!! To the helpers “Thank you, you have been there; but now give me space to be my own boss”
May God guide Africans on the four corners of the earth and may our helpers stop their help and henceforth give that help to their own people and invest in their own countries.
