Quack doctor Mugo wa Wairimu, who is charged with operating an illegal clinic in Nairobi, has been denied bail.
In her ruling on Friday, Nairobi Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku says the prosecution has given compelling reasons as to why the accused person should not be freed on bond.
“I find that compelling reasons have been provided by the prosecution and the application has merit,” says Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku.
She adds: “I find that stringent bind terms alone cannot guarantee or safeguard the integrity of the trial process neither cannot guarantee the process of the trial.”
Mugo will remain behind bars pending hearing and determination of the case facing him.
Mugo was arrested in Gachie area, Kiambu County on November 13th by Flying Squad officers after evading arrest for weeks by continuously swapping SIM cards.
His co-accused Victor Kamunya and Risper Auma were arraigned at a Nairobi Court and were released on bond after being charged with various offences including running a pharmacy illegally.
