MPs Threaten to Push for Dissolution of 12th Parliament

Two Members of Parliament have threatened to launch a bid to have the 12th Parliament dissolved.

Lugari MP Ayub Savula and his Matungu counterpart Justus Murunga said they will be petitioning the Supreme Court to approve dissolution of the 12th August House over graft allegations.

Should the two succeed in their mission, Kenyans will return to the ballot to elect new leaders. The duo’s threat comes after claims that several MPs received kickbacks of between Sh10,000 and Sh 30,000to shoot down a report on importation of contaminated sugar which incriminated senior government officials including two Cabinet Secretaries.

“As Members of Parliament from sugarcane growing areas, we are going to mobilise farmers to petition the Supreme Court to recommend the dissolution of the 12th Parliament because of corruption,” said MP Savula as quoted on Daily Nation.

He went on: “The Speaker must institute thorough investigations into this matter, but we will continue mobilising farmers to ensure that this petition sails through. We want fresh elections, those who received bribes should be kicked out of Parliament because we want to save the image of the House.”

On his part, MP Murunga said: “We will call for a meeting of all sugarcane farmers in Nyanza and Western and “make noise”, sugarcane farmers are crying because of sugar that was imported illegally.”

“If given that opportunity we will do so. The evidence is everywhere that members (MPs) were bribed. They were even recorded in cameras,” added Murunga.

I feel really bad for Kenyans.
Children , old people, the sick and pregnant women should not be drinking tea or porridge with sugar laced with mercury and copper.
Western and Nyanza needs to produce its own sugar.

They need to open sugar factories.
Very sad story of betrayal.Very sad.
