Seven Musicians Die in Grisly Road Crash Along Nakuru-Eldoret Highway

Seven musicians, including five men and two women died after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a grisly road crash at Kamara along the busy Nakuru-Eldoret highway on Saturday night.

The seven perished on the spot as the driver of Toyota Probox carrying them tried to overtake another vehicle, causing a head on collision with an oncoming heavy truck.

Confirming the incident, Molo Traffic Police Base Commander Moses Nderitu said the Probox carrying the singers collided with a truck heading to Nakuru at around 8.45pm.

“The driver of the Probox did not take precaution before overtaking the vehicle ahead of him and this might have caused the accident,” said Nderitu.

The driver of the truck and his loader sustained injuries while the bodies of the seven victims were moved to Molo Sub-County mortuary.

The seven belonged to a Kalenjin entertainment group from Bomet County and were headed for a show in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Mr Cosmas Rono, one of the members of the group said the seven decided to travel using a Probox, while the remaining two members of the group were left behind in Bomet to use public transport.

“I am devastated and it is so sad I have lost my colleagues with whom we had planned to go and entertain our fans in Ilotti in Timboroa,” said Mr Rono.
