Former Nairobi Woman Representative Rachel Shebesh has opened up on the circumstances under which her husband Franklin Shebesh Ambundo accidentally shot himself twice on the leg.
Addressing journalists at Nairobi hospital on Wednesday night, the politician said that her husband was servicing one of his weapons before accidentally firing at his left leg. “We were all in the house, he was in the bedroom alone servicing his gun. We just heard a loud bang and when we went, we found out that he had injured his thigh,” Shebesh told the Nation.
She further noted that Mr Ambundo was a gun expert and dismissed claims that the incident was connected to politics. “He runs a shooting range where he trains people and so he is not a stranger to guns. This was an accident, a genuine mistake and it had nothing to do with politics or the tensions in the country,” Shebesh stated.
Mr Ambundo is receiving treatment after shooting himself using a Glock 17 pistol at their residence at Kilimani estate in Nairobi. Police have commenced investigation into the incident.
“Officers from the Kilimani Police Station rushed to the hospital as is the norm, and established that the patient was a civilian gun holder and that he had discharged one round of ammunition injuring himself,” a police report read in part.
Mr Ambundo’s pistol has since been confiscated. Police say it had 12 bullets.
I can understand shooting…
I can understand shooting himself once. where/how does shooting himself twice come in…. especially with one loud bang???
WAKENYA, those are family…
WAKENYA, those are family and political issues, no matter how much you dig you’ll never get the truth. Don’t worry about it! especially in Kenya where Wakubwa and certain group of people are privileged, crimes are swept under the rug.
@Wakenya, you need to learn…
@Wakenya, you need to learn how a gun works before posing some dumb question and creating a mountain out of a mole hill. Perhaps you’ve never held a gun. You are as ignorant as they come, reminds me of ignoramus Raila thinking he will be president.
@mugi… Did you really have…
@mugi… Did you really have to call@ Wakenya names for asking a logical question? I have never held a gun either and don’t wish to but that doesn’t make me dumb. You seem to be the one showing ignorance here.
Based on the comment how…
Based on the comment how many Mwakenyas am I supposed to address? Are you the evil twin?
God knows the truth behind!…
God knows the truth behind!… wish you a quick recovery
It appears there is some…
It appears there is some form of violence in this “boma”.A few months ago the madam was in hospital where she posted a photo of being visited by the current Nairobi women’s rep Esther Passaris. At their age they should know better or they are generating publicity for a reality show now that the madam is no longer the Nairobi women rep.
@Mugi, since you are so…
@Mugi, since you are so smart and know everything about guns, how smart was it to service a fully loaded gun?
It was not, and I never…
It was not, and I never claimed it was.
