A Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldier reportedly captured two years ago by Somalia-based terror group Al Shabaab has begged President Uhuru Kenyatta to rescue him from his captors.

In a video that has gone viral online, the army officer believed to be Snr Private Alfred Ndanyi, 36, pleads with the head of state to rescue him so that he can reunite with his family.

In the video, Ndanyi pleads with President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene by freeing the Al-Shabaab suspects facing trial in Kenya in order to secure his freedom.

The video has given his family a glimmer of hope of finding their son who disappeared when Al-Shabaab militia overrun their El Adde camp on January 15, 2016, leaving several soldiers dead, while capturing others as hostages.

The soldier’s dad Epainitus Kilasi, revealed that they have never received any information on the the whereabouts of their son since the attack happened two years ago.

Kilasi said that their son was not among the bodies of slain soldiers identified through DNA testing shortly after the attack, casting doubts on their son’s whereabouts.

“One soldier who survived the attack but sustained injuries told us he saw our son and another soldier running away,” added Kilasi.

Kilasi told The standard that after watching the video allegedly released by the Al Shabaab, he was certain that it was his son.
