National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka’s woes in the Ukambani region escalated on Saturday after he booed while trying to himself from claims that he interfered with the recently concluded Wiper Democratic Party nominations in order to rig in his preferred candidates.

Kalonzo, who has been accused of rigging out Kitui senator David Musila in favor of incumbent Kitui governor Julius Malombe, was addressing mourners at Migwani in Mwingi West, Kitui County during the burial of Kitui Senator David Musila’s mother

“I am always an honest and transparent person. I’m stating clearly that I wasn’t involved,” Kalonzo said, a comment that angered the mourners.

“We have a long history. When Musila resigned as Wiper chairman and ditched the party, I refused to reply to his letter.” Kalonzo said as booing escalated.

The Wiper party leader was forced to promise that he will work with whoever is elected, even if that person is someone from a party other than Wiper. Musila is contesting for the Kitui governor seat as an independent candidate after quitting Wiper.

“If Musila wins the Governor seat, well and good. But if he doesn’t, then he will have to come back and resume his seat in Wiper party as chairman,” Kalonzo said.

Kitui Woman Representative Nyiva Mwendwa called on Senator David Musila and his Machakos counterpart Johnstone Muthama to consider rejoining the party. “You are some of the strongest pillars. As pioneers of Wiper, I can’t sit and watch the house cave in,” said Mwendwa, who last year announced that she is retiring from active politics and is not seeking re-election.
