Mombasa Woman Fights for Her Life After Boyfriend Scalds Her Face with Boiling Oil

A Kenyan woman in Mombasa finds herself in a critical condition after a horrific domestic violence incident.

Her boyfriend Isaac Kahinga, reportedly 29 years old, allegedly threw scalding hot oil on her during an argument. The brutality of the attack is further compounded by the ongoing doctors’ strike in Kenya, now in its third week. Deborah, the 23-year-old victim, shared her ordeal in a video circulating on NTV’s social media platform. The strike forces her to seek medical attention at private hospitals, which are financially out of reach.

While Deborah fights for survival amidst the agony of severe burns, her attacker remains at large, evading authorities. Deborah’s plight reflects the immense hardship many patients in Kenya are facing due to the doctors’ strike. Although reports suggest doctors in Nairobi County have returned to work, the strike persists in other parts of the country. Doctors are resolute in their demands, seeking improved wages and working conditions, a key factor behind the ongoing strike.

The struggles of her weary mother further amplify the gravity of Deborah’s situation. Caring for her daughter’s severe burns has proven immensely challenging. Shockingly, since Deborah’s admission to the hospital, no doctor has attended to her, leaving the critical task to her already burdened mother. Adding to the string of tragic incidents, another domestic violence has been reported in Juja where a man allegedly took his wife’s life after she expressed a desire to end their marriage. The perpetrator inflicted multiple stab wounds on his estranged partner before attempting suicide.

An eyewitness describes that the man confronted his wife while she visited a neighbour and launched a brutal attack, stabbing her in the neck. Alarmed neighbours intervened just in time to prevent the man from taking his own life by slitting his throat. According to additional witnesses, the perpetrator claimed his wife planned to abandon him, further revealing that her relatives had previously assaulted him during an attempt to reconcile their differences.
