The Philippines has opened its doors for Kenyan travellers allowing them to visit the country for 30 days without requiring a visa.
However, Kenyan travellers must have a valid passport that extends at least six months beyond their intended stay and copies of yellow fever and COVID-19 vaccination certificates. Additionally, they must present evidence of confirmed accommodation arrangements for the entire duration of their trip, as well as documentation of their return trip to Kenya or another country. As per the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, around 800 Kenyan citizens, including 100 students, lived in the Philippines in 2020.
The Philippines is 90.88% larger than Kenya and spans approximately 298,170 square kilometres. As of August 2023, the population of the Philippines exceeds that of Kenya by 56,569,859 individuals. Filipino and English are the official languages of the Philippines which has become a popular travel destination in Asia, sparking the interest of Kenyan tourists and students alike.
On February 14, 2023, Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua received a visit from the Philippines Ambassador to Kenya, Marie Charlotte Tang. The visit served to reinforce the diplomatic ties between the two nations. On August 21, President William Ruto announced the visa-free entry of Indonesian citizens to Kenya. Speaking during the joint press briefing at State House with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Ruto remarked on the business potential between the two nations, adding that Kenya welcomes Indonesia with open arms
