President Ruto has appointed 20 new judges of the High Court whose names were forwarded to him by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) last Thursday.
Ruto appointed the new judges through a Gazette Notice No. 15193 in exercise of the powers conferred to him by Article 166 (1) (b) of the Constitution.
The newly appointed High Court Judges are Gichohi Patricia Njeri, Mongare Josephine Wayua Wambua, Nyaundi Patricia Mande, Kavedza Diana Rachel, Chirchir Sophie Chebet, Prof. Sifuna Nixon Wanyama , Shariff Mwanaisha Saida, Nyaga Heston Mbogo, Chigiti John Mugwimi, and Mulwa Peter Mutua.
Other are Lawrence Mugambi, Mutai Gregory, Wananda John Robert Anuro, Mohochi Samwel Mukira , Olel Francis Rayola Ochieng Odhiambo, Githiru Freda Mugambi, Magare Dennis Kizito Ng’wono, Macharia Florence Wangari, Odera Teresa Achieng, and Visram Aleem Alnashir.
The JSC said the 20 shortlisted candidates were picked following a thorough vetting exercise that was finalized on December 1st.
The appointment of the 20 High Court Judges is expected to ease the backlog of court cases that have delayed justice for thousands of Kenyans.
