Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has demanded an apology from a pastor who referred to her as a witch.
Through her lawyer Danstan Omari, Jumwa wrote a letter to River of God’s Reverend Tony Kiamah asking him to issue an apology, failure to which she will take legal action. The attorney said the utterances the clergyman made in a video that has gone viral are harsh to his client.
“In the clip you made various spurious averments touching on our client’s character and the said utterances are made to discredit her good reputation. It can only be construed as reeking of malice since the same was not followed by any evidence as claimed in your speech,” lawyer Omari said.
Omari said CS Jumwa is a mother of two, who are looking up to her and defaming her reputation before her children is unfair and uncalled for.
“For the avoidance of any doubt, our client reserves the right to refuse any retraction or apology should such retraction and apology be demanded unsatisfactory and contrary to the requirements stated above,” he said.
He further pointed out that his client holds a sensitive docket in government, insisting that the tarnishing of her name without evidence is uncalled for.
