President Ruto has pledged to be firm on service delivery of the newly appointed Cabinet members, saying they have no option but to deliver on their mandate.
While assuring them of his full support, Ruto warned the Cabinet members against regional favoritism and negative ethnic politics, saying they must serve all Kenyans equally.
“I know there are regional and community persuasions. Respect your oath of office and serve all Kenyans equally. You have sworn to the constitution. I expect each and every one of you to uphold the constitution and the rule of law to be front and centre of our government,” he said.
Ruto, who spoke on Thursday during the swearing-in of the 24 members of the Cabinet at State House, Nairobi, further urged them to uphold the rule of law to avoid turning Kenya into a country “run on the whims of individuals”.
“In the discharge of your duties in the various ministries that you will be serving, you will have my wholesome support because you have no other option than to succeed. Failure is not an option, we have a country to look after, we have a plan to implement and we have the people of Kenya watching us,” he said.
“My intention and that of my deputy is to run a clear and accountable government, we have no grey areas, and we have nothing to hide. We want to serve Kenyans in a manner that upholds integrity,” he added.
At the same time, the president told Cabinet Secretaries to expect tough working hours in the next few months as the government develops a roadmap to serve Kenyans better.
“Your celebrations will be short-lived because you will be leaving your offices late. So spouses please be patient. These people will be sleeping in the office for the next couple of months,” he said.
Every Kenyan should be…
Every Kenyan should be praying and doing their best to make sure this group of people fails..
