Tuju: Chebukati Organized a Secret Meeting with Me in Karen

Azimio la Umoja executive director Raphael Tuju has broken his silence about his secret meeting with IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati prior to the announcement of the presidential results on August 15th.

Chebukati filed an affidavit at the Supreme Court claiming that Tuju was among Azimio-allied leaders who paid him a visit at Bomas of Kenya at 3.00 am to try to convince him to alter the results of the election in favor of their candidate.

He claimed that Tuju and his team promised him handsome compensation if he accepted their request but he turned down the offer.

But in a media briefing on Sunday, Tuju said he sought an audience with Chebukati after getting intelligence reports on swapping of Forms 34A from the IEBC’s portal.

“I tried accessing the Chairman but was blocked by a senior police officer but after managing to access the facility through a back door, Chebukati refused to see me. He told me he was busy and I came back later, but kept on postponing. I waited until 4.00 am,” Tuju said.

He dismissed Chebukati’s claims that his team made him an offer to skew the results, stating that 10 other people including other IEBC commissioners were present at the meeting and can testify.

“In the meeting, we were ten of us in total and for him to claim that I made some offers to him it’s a tarradiddle. Petty lie. I want Chebukati to explain to Kenyans what we were discussing when he came to see me in a secret location in Karen,” said Tuju.

Tuju went on to claim that Chebukati called him for a meeting at a secret location in Karen without giving details of what they discussed.

“I want Chebukati to explain to Kenyans what the discussion was about when he came to a secret location to meet me in Karen,” he said.

In addition, Tuju said commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu, whom he described as “more of auctioneers than commissioners”, visited him at his Karen home

“I want commissioners Guliye and Molu to tell Kenyans what they came to do in my house. I will make CCTV camera footage available,” he added.

  1. Tuju is telling us that this…
Tuju is telling us that this electoral corruption did not start at Bomas. If indeed anyone has to buy the allegations that the commissioners went to his house, then we are confirming that Azimio has been all along been in the business of corrupting the elections. There’s no way these commissioners can just go to his house without elaborate discussions and arrangements.
Even after what Tuju has accepted to have corrupted all the commissioners, Ruto still came out winning.

This is a mess of a grand scale. Both sides claim that it is the other side that was corrupting the electoral process to favor their team. What are we to make of this?
First of all, to me, this visits are suspect, and should not have occurred. There ought to be a law against interacting and palling with IEBC commissioners till after the elections are over.
This unbridled thirst for power makes we wonder if we are really getting the best candidate for the job?Or are we voting in the best”conman”.
I still dont see the smoking gun. Will the supreme court be able to see it?
To me, I feel that tax payers should not foot any legal bills here. That would be” double taxation”; in the sense that, that money has to be replaced somehow. It was not just laying idle… So far IEBC has hired numerous law firms to the tune of over 500million shillings to paid by the voters. Certainly that was not part of the deal. Not sure who is footing Rao,and Ruto’s legal expenses, but I would not be surprised if the public picks the tab. This is unfair to the voters, when all they did is cast their votes in good faith.Well some may have been bought, but still they cast their votes for their candidate.Any shenanigans by the high-ups should not punish or burden the taxpayer.

Maxiley the expenses of the Supreme Court in the presidential vote dispute requires a deposit of 1 million and extra to cover the cost of the lawsuit paid to the cast of the plaintiff. It’s only iebc that will have the government pay it’s court fees if it looses the case. In this situation it appears very unlikely that the IEBC will loose a case. The only IEBC that is likely to loose the case are those that took private lawyers. And these happens to be the 4 compromised commissioners.

So who deposits the 1M? The petitioner ?In this case Rao? Thanks for your input.Still the taxpayer will be left with a hefty bill…

        • Maxiley yes all petitioners…
Maxiley yes all petitioners shall deposit 1m to cover the respondents installments of payments should they win the case. Also there’s an additional amount to file the case which covers the Supreme Court costs. The taxpayers are vulnerable in the case of IEBC defense team. Most of the cost is taken care by the individuals and individual parties, aAnd of course there will be a cost burdened to the taxpayers.

Tuju is insinuating that he met Chebukati at a secret location. What he is not telling us is why they had to meet. Were they meeting for a joint, beer or food? To just say we met at a secret location without giving a sustainable reason is just a grade one story.

  4. Hopefully chebukatikati…
Hopefully chebukatikati recorded the convo for his own redemption Azimio izimiwe mbali, more like Azimio la ufisadi.

  5. Hungry billionaire Kenyans…
Hungry billionaire Kenyans will foot the bills of IEBC,Ruto and Raila.Remember the said hungry billionaires accepted to be paying the owners of so-called political parties with 25%+ MPs/senators in both parliaments. These elite gangsters also share the 30% budget loot per year.

  6. Toboa yote hadi siri zenu za…
Toboa yote hadi siri zenu za ndani ya mioyo inayohusu hii uchaguzi. Mungu hatakangi kuchanganyishwa na mapepo ya wizi na ujinga na udanganyifu. This time Kenyans are winning. Ukweli lazima utapatikana. Chebukati lazima afungwe gerezani, iwe funzo kwa wafanyikazi wengine wa serikali. Justice and Truth. The most bogus elections ever.

  7. Hebu nionyeshe nchi moja…
