Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga has dismissed president-elect William Ruto’s claims about the intimidation of the judiciary.
On Thursday, Ruto accused Azimio leaders of intimidating the judiciary ahead of the hearing and determination of a petition challenging his victory in the August 9th presidential election by the Supreme Court.
Ruto, who was declared the winner of the election after garnering 7,176,141 votes (50.49 percent), said the judges should be allowed to handle the petition freely.
But in a rejoinder, Odinga denied threatening the courts, saying that all he did was to inform Kenyans about their prayers to the apex court.
“I did not threaten the courts. I informed the public on what are our prayers to the court,” Odinga said in Siaya.
While expressing confidence that the court will declare him and his running mate Martha Karua as the duly elected president and deputy president, Odinga stated that he knows the limit to which he can comment over a matter pending in court.
He further urged their supporters to remain calm, saying that his team has sufficient evidence that will see the supreme court overturn Ruto’s victory.
“We want, if the court agrees with us that we won, to declare us winners,” he added.
