Two Police Officers Among Suspects Arrested with Marked Ballot Papers in Narok

Three suspects, among them two police officers, have been arrested after they were reportedly found transporting marked ballot papers and other election materials in Kilgoris, Narok County.

Narok County Police Commander Kizito Mutoro said the three were apprehended at around 6.30 pm on Monday after members of the public trailed their car. 

“The police received a distress call from members of the public who said they had intercepted marked ballot papers at a petrol station. Police rushed to the scene where they found a Toyota Sienta carrying election materials under the escort of two police officers,” said Mutoro as quoted by Nation.

The commander indicated that the suspects were arrested a gas station in Kilgoris town where they had gone to refuel their car.

They were found in possession of one voter register for Kilgoris Prison, two election results booklets, 12 packets of presidential ballot papers and four form 35c. Others are five form 36c, six form 34b, seven form 39b, eight form 35b, nine form 36b, 10 38b, 11 copies of work ticket for hired vehicles (2022).

“One presidential ballot box was destroyed by members of the public. Transmara west constituency returning officer confirmed that the intercepted materials were the property of the IEBC,” he added.

They are being held at Kilgoris Police Station pending further investigations.

    Nyonga hawa, Wajackoya style! I admire Wajackoya’s brave zero tolerance rule for dealing with corrupt individuals & criminals! Kenyans are so, so systemically corrupt, such that the ONLY measure that will work is death penalty ndo ikue funzo kwa wengine.
