The Mau Mau governing council of elders has endorsed the presidential bid of Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party flagbearer Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua.
A group of over 400 Mau Mau veterans declared their support for the Azimio duo following a meeting with Karua at Mt Kenya University in Thika, Kiambu County on Monday.
The elders pledged to drum up support for the Raila-Karua ticket in the vote-rich Mt. Kenya region ahead of the August 9th general elections.
“I am seeing people who want us to stand together as a community so that we can protect our rights. And I’m seeing a group (Mau Mau veterans) that we haven’t really celebrated as we should, given that you liberated this nation,” Karua said during the meeting.
The endorsement by the Mau Mau governing council of elders is seen as a major boost for Odinga’s quest to make inroads in the Mt Kenya region which is largely considered a stronghold of his main competitor Deputy President William Ruto.
Recent opinion polls show Ruto, who is contesting under his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, still enjoys massive support in Central Kenya although Odinga is fast gaining popularity in the region as the country draws closer to the August 9th elections.

I understand the so called Mau Mau governing council of elders got something in order to do this. I get it, folks have to make a living, but this is not what the original Mau Mau would have done.
How many Mau Mau warriors were killed by Jomo, being the first political assassinations?
Seems like we never learn from History or we are just plainly ignorant to facts.
Maybe we need to revisit the Aftermath after independence and do our research.
I believe all have a right to endorse WHOEVER they want as individuals but not collectively.

You are 100% right. The real MauMau and their children have been waiting for justice for more than 60 years. Raila has been in the government for more than 40 years.

No real Maumau would believe their children who could not vote were burnt in church for one to gain a Prime Minister position.
Right now, the mountain is very slippery with the blood of those killed in 2007/2008 elections. May that blood find justice this time around.
If Raila attended the debate he can tell Maumau what he has done for them and their children in more than 40 years. And explain 2007/2008 bloodshed.
He may also be able to explain 40 verses one.

The Maumau did not kill innocent missionaries. The missionaries were not innocent. They carried a Bible on one hand and a gun on the other. They destroyed our Shrines in order to establish their Christian doctrine that was based on Dum Diversers ( to enslave the black man).
Maumau sacrificed to save our country. We are about 360 degrees. Those who killed our people need to read the Bible they brought: Numbers 33 & 35 to find out how the land will be cleansed when time is here.
