Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has settled on real estate entrepreneur Faith Mwaura as his running mate in the Kiambu gubernatorial race.
Mwaura holds a bachelor of commerce degree from Daystar University and a master’s in Real Estate from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland.
Kuria is eyeing the Kiambu governor’s seat on a Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party ticket and is expected to face off with incumbent James Nyoro (Jubilee Party), Kimani Wamatangi (UDA), William Kabogo (Tujibebe Wakenya Party), and Wainaina Wajungle (independent).
He had earlier picked media personality Janet Mbugua as his running mate but the former Citizen TV news anchor rejected the offer, saying she was not interested in getting into active politics. Kuria said Mbugua emerged as the best candidate in his search for a deputy governor.
“Thanks Moses Kuria for considering me capable to serve Kiambu County as Dep Gov. Indeed, active engagement in politics isn’t for me at the moment. I remain available in support of quality service to the good people of Kiambu & all of Kenya, more so vulnerable women & girls,” Mbugua said in a statement.
If elected, Kuria says he will deploy his 15 years of solid experience in banking locally and abroad and 9 years as a Member of Parliament with a proven delivery record to transform Kiambu County to the same status as the City-State of Singapore.
This would be achieved through a program based on three core pillars of efficient service delivery, converting Kiambu into an investors’ paradise to create jobs, and exports promotion for agricultural, manufactured products and human capital.
