The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has published the names and photos of five wanted terror suspects described as “armed and dangerous.”
The DCI, in a statement on Monday, offered a Sh10 million cash reward for information leading to the arrest of any of the five suspects.
The five include Elgiva Bwire Oliacha, Salim Rashid Mohamed, Barigi Abdikadir Haila, Trevor Ndwiga, and Muhammad Abubakar.
Bwire, who had been convicted of terror charges, disappeared upon his release from Kamiti Prison after completing his jail term on October 28th this year.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of involvement in the October 24th, 2011 terror attack at Kaka bus station along Race Course Road in Nairobi. His appeal saw his life sentence reduced to 10 years in prison.
“He (Elgiva Bwire) is said to have vowed to carry out attacks in the country against civilians and security personnel. He has gone underground and is believed to be planning to carry out attacks,” said the DCI.
DCI said Salim Rashid Mohamed, who hails from Mombasa, was previously linked to various criminal activities and is suspected to have joined a terrorist group in Mozambique named Daesh.
Barigi Abdikadir Haila, who hails from Moyale, is alleged to have recently joined Al-Shabaab in Somalia.
Trevor Ndwiga, who was out on bond over terrorism charges, is also said to have joined the Al-Shabaab militia in Somalia and is suspected to be planning to sneak back into the country to carry out attacks.
Detectives said Muhammad Abubakar, who hails from Kibokoni area in Old Town, Mombasa, is also a member of Al-Shabaab.
