Ardhi Sasa: Uhuru Launches Digital Lands System to Protect Kenyans from Cartels

President Kenyatta has launched a digital land resource management system whose aim is to enhance the security of land records, speed up land transactions, and curb fraud.

Dubbed the National Land Information Management System (NLIMS) or Ardhi Sasa, the system was designed and developed by a team of young Kenyans over three years.

“We have built and deployed a world-class system at a fraction of the cost previously used to finance failed attempts at digitization. The digital platform will secure innocent Kenyans from exploitation by cartels, middlemen, and fraudsters,” Kenyatta said during the launch of the platform at the National Geospatial Data Centre in Nairobi.

He added: “At the click of a button, users will now be able to search and carry out various land transactions, drastically reducing human interactions, delays and other inconveniences previously experienced at land registries.”

Kenyatta said the digital system will ease the cost of doing business in the country by shortening the period of processing various applications, whether for planning, development control, transfer of ownership, or as collateral for credit from lenders.

“The digitalization of land records and titles is part of my government’s broad policy of ensuring seamless synergy and cohesion between sectors that are crucial to the overall economic development of our country as envisaged in Vision 2030,” said Uhuru.

On her part, Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney said, “For decades the land sector has been plagued by corruption, fraud and illegal land transactions, thereby making the acquisition of title deeds, a daunting and dreadful undertaking for Kenyans and investors.”

She added: “The platform will provide a single source of truth for all land information across the Country besides revolutionizing the way Kenyans carry out land transactions.”

The digital system is ZERO if it won’t recover land grabbed by the elite grabbers whether they have expired or not.The land must be seized or those who inherited pay for it on current land prices.Former land commissioner, jambazi Wilson Gachanja must explain how expired Kamau grabbed parts of parliament land while dead.
