Jubilee Party Executive Director James Waweru has passed away in Nairobi.
Waweru, who previously served as Nairobi Provincial Commissioner and Permanent Secretary for Sports, died on Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital, where he had been admitted. The cause of his death has not been revealed.
President Kenyatta has termed his death as a big blow to Kenya, saying he served the country with distinction for many years as an administrator.
In a message of condolence to family and friends, Kenyatta described the deceased as a seasoned public servant who left a mark of excellence wherever he served.
“It is unfortunate that we have lost one of Kenya’s most seasoned administrators. Mr. Waweru’s commitment, personal discipline, and loyalty to the country saw him rise through the ranks to become a top public administrator.”
“As the ruling Jubilee Party, we’ve lost a trusted, loyal and efficient leader whose contribution, as the most senior executive, has ensured our stability and progress,” said Kenyatta, who is also the Jubilee Party Leader.
