Kiambu Man’s Hilarious CNN 'Interview' Goes Viral Online [VIDEO]

A video of a Kenyan man being ‘interviewed’ by CNN’s Brianna Keilar has gone viral on social media, leaving online users in stitches.

In the video, the man who claims to be from Kiambu County hilariously talks about his triumphant battle with Covid-19 using ‘broken English.’

“Let me first return many many thanks for inviting me to speak inside a television (sic), you are catching me one on one from Kiambu Kenya, today I’m feeling hot like lack of importance,” says the man who dressed in a summer hat, a shirt and tie.

He went on to disclose how he discovered he had contracted Covid-19.

“I was at the Mutura base when my head started biting me and I thinked it was because I had not drinken tea in the morning, I started feeling English English (sic) and decided to go to the hospital,” he added.

The video caught the attention of many social media users with some like journalist Rasna Warah believing that the interview actually took place due to how craftily it was edited to appear like real.

“Question is why @CNN aired this interview which makes no sense at all. What is the purpose?” Warah posed.

The Kiambu man has been identified as an upcoming comedian who goes by the name Mickey Laxy Comedy on Facebook. Kenyans have lauded the comedian’s creativity.

Njoroge Githumbe said: “This guy must be a graduate or something close. He mixes humour and intelligence with great ease. The video mixing too is on another level. We need to get this guys real jobs not unblocking the sewer.”

Boniface Mouti noted: “It is these experiences that help to relieve the pain of being a Kenyan!”

  1. This is highly embarrassing…
This is highly embarrassing. All of you Kenyans in diaspora this is what Uhuru Kenyata and his failed economy has reduced kenyans to. Making a fool of themselves on international TV to feed their children.

    • Not true@guest13!There is…
Not true@guest13!There is nothing embarrassing here! Kenya has a population of 58 million people – we would all be better off if each one of us to do something to help out and stop whining like a lone dog! Stop the DP Ruto mentality is cerebrating wrongs!

Uhuru can’t do it alone! You don’t expect Uhuru to come wash your freaking dirty linen and crap!

Here is nothing embarrassing here! The guy was having a pretty good time. And Brianna gave him the platform to entertain! – “It is not what a country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”!

Someone said those golden words in 1963 but the message has not yet reached to the Kenyan shores!

Majority of the Black folks always have to expect a hand out day and night; and day in-day out! No wonder Trump is referring to you as a shithole man!! The sickening attitude of self pity have eaten in our pride!

And for that Kenyan reporter who is now embarrassed by the style of this mans communicating with Brianna, I say to you, you lack originality in your TV shows; you ain’t entertaining at all! Please, go cut Jeff Koinange into sizes to feel better about yourself (that is your equal – maybe) because you got beaten by a rayman trying a new gig to the world that you can’t do!

    • @guest I am a Kenyan and…
@guest I am a Kenyan and not embarrassed for this guy. Comedy is talent which is well paying if natured. May be in your mind you think the guy is not educated but he was having fun. He was interviewed on cable news probably you have been there. You may disagree with @uhuru kenyatta like many other kenyan but hurling garbage is even less than childish. Be a role model where your juniors can look after. Your insults can change Kenya even an inch. Your behaviors are the likes of @donald trump and @david ndii. Guys like John Githongo challenges almost everything done Uhuru administration but he does in a very decent manner.

Wacha nicheke. This was not a real interview. Dont joke with Kenyans. They are smart enough to make you think its real

  2. Only the stiff neck black…
Only the stiff neck black Kenyans who get embarrassed when their fellow man is do something funny on CNN! Even some TV reporter here is tiffed and miffed!

Shauri yako – Brianna Kellar did not get offended by the guy! She treated the English English man with class, dignity and the uttermost respect!

And that is where the stack difference lies between the White folks in comparison with the black folks!! Blacks are nearly always judgmental while the muzungu will listen to the end!

Can we all learn something here?

  3. @Warah – it make sense to…
@Warah – it make sense to CNN! Do don’t question the intent of it because CNN never invited you to be the judge of their production??!

  4. Time to abandon foreign…
Time to abandon foreign language in which we all become stammerers both in our mother toungue and in our adopted colonial language. We are not fluent in our conqurers language and we are not fluent in our conquered language.
Our conquerer enjoys when we make fools of ourselves because the master knows we are not awake yet. It’s 2020, time to begin quiting the masters (colonizers) language.

@Anonymous UI. Says the one who is speaking the colonizers language. Practice what you preach bro. If so, make you comment in Swahili or any other Kenyan language!

How can everyone fail to see that this is fake just pure editing and no real CNN interview…this is how Kenyans are easily deceived….easily amused with what goes viral. Oh well bravo to the video editing though

What an embarrassment! I get it the guy was trying to be funny but if you only know how you made a fool of yourself on CNN you would go back and hide in your cave for a mighty long time! Someone please tell anyone else who is about to pull a stunt like this again that jokes that you learned in your shushu’s hut are nowhere near relatable to someone who reads news on CNN. Honestly how would someone on CNN know what ‘mutura’ is? Next time my dude, answer questions as you’re asked. You are the reason why Africans are still looked upon as primitive. You came on National Television and proved yourself the biggest dummie ever! So you think you’re a comedian huh? You made the news anchor so uncomfortable and it shows on her face, not even one second did she smile. Shame on you! Next time learn how to be a grown-up and treat topics you’re invited to discuss on tv with respect! If you’re called for comedy, then well and good but don’t try to turn such a serious subject to childish show. Go tell those stupid jokes to the spoilt streets where they fit and leave CNN to those who at least have two cents to contribute! Shame on you!

    • Looks like his intended…
Looks like his intended audience was fellow Kenyans, particularly Kikiyus. Don’t be so judgemental. Just kick back and enjoy.

    • Most commenters are…
Most commenters are unbelievable! How did all you guys talking about the guy “embarrassing Kenyans” not realize that the video is edited???
You are the embarrassment, the guy is a comical genius!

  9. Is Kanyi applying to be…
Is Kanyi applying to be Uhuru’s-elite thugs’ spokesman?Does he know that all Kenyans including the expired ones in mortuaries pay taxes?Or did he expect all of us to join Uhuru & Co.looters?Do you get corruption dividends to defend them?

  10. I like the genuine…
I like the genuine creativity in this English English man! He is funny! He made me laugh! Laughter is a medicine especially after recovering from the killer covid19. He stood up for those fighting covid19. That is all what counts!
