Uhuru Bans Sale of Alcohol in Restaurants, Extends Nationwide Curfew

President Kenyatta has announced new measures aimed at containing the spread of Covid-19.

Addressing the nation on Monday, Uhuru said the existing nationwide 9 pm to 4 am curfew will remain in force for a further 30 days.

Citing the surge in Covid-19 cases over the past three weeks, Uhuru further banned the sale of alcoholic drinks in restaurants and eateries effective midnight.

The closing time for restaurants and eateries has also been moved from 8 pm to 7 pm while bars and nightclubs shall remain shut until further notice.

Kenyatta directed the Inspector-General of Police to permanently revoke licenses of bars found operating in violation of Covid-19 measures.

The IG was also directed to file a weekly report of bars whose licenses have been withdrawn to Interior CS Fred Matiang’i.

“Forthwith, the IG shall ensure that his officers spare no mheshimiwa, no individual, regardless of social status or rank who is either out after curfew without being an essential worker or who flouts the health protocol that has been set out,” said Kenyatta.

Pole sana waKenya wenzangu who celebrated as Uhuru was making those orders.I just wonder wheather Uhuru Kenyatta prohibited Kenyans from drinking alcohol apart from Muigai Kamau & Ngina who will be GIKOMBE kama kawaida tomorrow(Tuesday) morning. It was better if he left Matiang’i or Kagwi to make such order.
