Jubilee Issues Update on Raphael Tuju's Condition After Last Week's Road Accident

The Jubilee Party on Monday issued an update on secretary-general Raphael Tuju’s health after he was involved in a grisly accident last Wednesday.

In a statement, Jubilee communications director Alex Memusi said Tuju’s condition had improved and that the injuries he sustained in the crash were healing.

“So far all indications are that his injuries are healing well,” said Memusi.

“Notably, he is conscious and fully in control of his limbs just as he was when he walked into the accident and emergency section of Kijabe Hospital.”

He further noted that medics at Karen Hospital had immobilized Tuju in a bid to avoid the risk of aggravating the injuries he suffered in the accident.

“The family, through the party, wishes to thank all those who have been praying, sending messages of goodwill or encouraging them in one way or another,” said Memusi.

“They further wish to request that the patient be allowed more time to recover before he can be visited.”

Tuju, who also serves as a Cabinet Secretary without a portfolio, was heading to Kabarak, Nakuru County for the burial of the late former president Daniel Arap Moi when his vehicle collided head-on with a matatu at Magina area on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.

He was rushed to Kijabe Mission Hospital for emergency treatment and later airlifted to Karen Hospital in Nairobi.
