Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO and and self-declared Kenyan ‘moral police’ Ezekiel Mutua has sought President Uhuru Kenyatta’s intervention in the recent outcry over moral decadence among young girls and boys.
On Thursday, Kenyans on Twitter (#KOT) launched the #IfikieWazazi campaign that aimed at exposing teenagers sharing nasty photos of themselves on social media.
Speaking to Citizen Digital on Friday, Mutua noted that the behavior among teenagers is increasingly becoming a “national crisis”, and has decided to seek President Kenyatta’s intervention. Mutua said he took advantage of a drama festival gala at State House to implore the president to intervene in the menace.
“I was at State House, Nairobi to brief President Kenyatta about moral decadence among our teenagers. I also fronted to him recommendations about what needs to be done to salvage the situation,” Dr Mutua told said.
He added:“We want to inculcate moral values among the youth through Drama Festival. We are working closely with the Ministry of Education to ensure that we teach children positive social values of honesty, hard work, teamwork, perseverance, resilience, peace and national integration.”
In a post on Facebook on Friday, Mutua sought to explain how the society, especially the media has contributed to the behavior among teens.
“#ifikiewazazi epitomises the culture of debauchery and deviance among the youth. It’s Project X in disguise. Our youth are defying authority – God, parents, Government etc. At the heart of this deviance is a disturbed voice of the youth who have lost sense of direction because we, the adults, have failed them.
“The parents have failed them. The media have failed them. The leadership has failed them. Religion has failed them. We must begin to have an honest conversation about the breakdown of the moral fabric.
Mutua added: “We have put priority on the physical infrastructure and neglected the moral infrastructure. We have built the hardware but the software is faulty and must be fixed first:“Let me quote verbatim a post on FB by Tsarm Wachira which aptly captures everything about this subject:
“The society is already immoral in that:
“1. Some programs being aired live are purely a promotion of immorality. And it’s just okay!
“2. We have left the job of raising our kids to maids and shamba boys because we are too busy for them. And it’s just okay!
“3. We have eye catching #KissCondoms adverts before and during prime time news. And it’s just okay!
“4. We are taking our kids to clubs to learn from the best. And it’s just okay!
“5. Foreign lewd/smutty/dirty/filthy/obscene/pornographic music reigns on our free-to-air Tv stations. And it’s just okay!
“6. We are hailing divorce and single parenthood in the name of ‘independence!’ And it’s just okay!
“7. Local promoters of nudity and obscene music are deemed heroes. And it’s just okay!
“8. Our homes have become ‘clearing & forwarding’ offices such that when our kids close school (boarding) we clear and forward them to ‘Shosh’s’ place to spend the rest of the holiday’s there. And its just okay!
“Yes, #ifikiewazazi but we need more people like Ezekiel Mutua, the moral police, to straighten the crooked. And we need God more………..we are the problem.”
that’s a good decision Mr…
that’s a good decision Mr mutua

Actually the moral behaviors…
Actually the moral behaviors among today’s youths have reduced drastically. What we do figures out as if today is the end. We have lost our dignity as youths. Our cultures have lost meaning. we are in an era of “I for myself and God for us all.” We don’t care about the impacts we my bring to society. It is time such as this where sense of responsibility should be upheld in diverse. It’s so irritating for today’s youths be taken of no value in society. Youths! youths! youths! It’s not that late!!!
The word you’re looking for…
The word you’re looking for is Westernized. Is it too late? I think the ‘african culture’ ship sailed at the advent of internet. Should govt should block all porno sites for starters?
