Siaya Senator James Orengo has hinted that ODM leader Raila Odinga will run for President during the 2022 general election.
Orengo, a close ally of Odinga, said many Kenyans still believe that the ODM chief is the man to take Kenya to the Promised Land and expressed confidence that the dream will be achieved through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
“This country wants to see Odinga lead it to Canaan through the BBI,” Orengo said on Saturday while speaking at a burial ceremony in Siaya County.
Orengo, who is also the leader of the minority in the Senate, said Odinga’s presidency will give Kenyans the political liberation they have been yearning for since the country gained independence.
But Odinga, who was present at the burial ceremony, steered clear of 2022 succession politics and spoke about the BBI, which he maintained is about uniting Kenyans.
“The BBI is seeking to unite the country. The document will be brought back to you for endorsement,” said Odinga.
President Kenyatta and Odinga have constantly insisted that the BBI, born in the aftermath of their March 2018 handshake, is not about who will become Kenya’s president in 2022.

It is important to worry about things that benefit Kenyans instead of wasting time politicking. The only time I can vote for Odinga depends on revisiting the ICC issues while Ruto is waiting in custody for the case to proceed! Another promise I expect from Odinga is the return of everything Ruto has stolen from the poor Kenyans – from small pieces of land, big land, to money in foreign Banks. The hotel can be given to Wilson airport as a source if income. The 3 billion shillings house in Mugotio can be used as a bed and dine for tourists visiting the country. The expensive vehicles can be used as a tax to ferry tourists there. The helicopters can be nationalized to take tourists on top of Mount Kilimanjaro! I will vote for Raila if he promises to recover the stolen wealth within the first 100 days – with a clause in law stating that if he does not do it he will resign! We want a country clear of corruption which is ailing every facet of the economy!!
