The family of retired President Daniel Arap Moi has once again allayed fears about his health status after he was admitted to Nairobi Hospital last Monday.
In an update on his health, Moi’s family spokesperson and press secretary Lee Njiru denied claims that the former president is in the intensive care unit (ICU), noting that he is responding positively to treatment.
Sources earlier intimated that Moi was taken to hospital last week after developing breathing problems, according to Daily Nation.
“I am happy to announce that Mzee Moi is recovering steadily and continues to receive medical care under the professional team led by his personal physician Dr. David Silverstein,” said Njiru.
“He is still in hospital … I saw him. Contrary to speculation on social media, Mzee Moi is not in the ICU. He is in the general ward and improves by the day,” he added.
He indicated that alarming reports about the 95-year-old’s health have waned after the family released the correct information.
“Human health is not a matter to be toyed with so Kenyans should stop the speculation because Mzee Moi is on the path to a quick recovery,” Njiru stated.
“At the moment only very close family members are allowed to see him at the VIP wing.”
