A former Member of County Assembly (MCA) on Tuesday shot dead his wife before killing himself.
Richard Muchesia, a former MCA representing Isukha Central Ward in Kakamega County, shot his wife Florence Okwach,37, at their matrimonial home in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County before turning the gun on himself
Police suspect the flashy politician had differences with his spouse, who was an Administration Police officer.
Kajiado North Sub-county Police Commander Joseph Mwika said Muchesia, 42, used his licensed firearm to take away his life and that of his wife.
“He used his own licensed gun, which we now have in our possession,” Mwika told the Nation.
He added: “Investigations are still ongoing on why it happened, but we suspect the two had matrimonial differences.”
He allegedly relocated to Kajiado after unsuccessfully defending his seat in the 2017 general elections.
In 2013, Muchesia organized a party at his rural village to celebrate his election victory, according to Daily Nation.
Former Kanu era Cabinet Minister Nicholas Biwott, who died two years ago, was among the chief guests.
Muchesia was among a few leaders who won an election on Biwott’s New Vision Party (NVP) ticket.
