Police in Nairobi are looking for a rogue tout who allegedly pushed out a 28-year-old Kenyan woman from a moving matatu.
Florence Wanjiru sustained serious injuries after the conductor of a Kileleton Sacco matatu plying the Kileleshwa-Lavington route threw her out of the vehicle.
CCTV footage showed Wanjiru boarding a passenger bus in the night at Yongli casino and restaurant located in Hurlingham, where she worked.
Later that night, a Good Samaritan called her kin to inform them that their daughter had been involved in an accident and sustained severe injuries.
“Once we got the call, we rushed to the hospital to see her and she was in bad condition,” Wanjiru’s uncle John Chege told Citizen TV.
She was later referred to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) where she allegedly remained unattended for several hours before succumbing to injuries.
Wanjiru’s mother, Beatrice said her daughter narrated how the conductor hit her with a metal road before pushing her out of the moving bus.
Police are using the CCTV footage to unravel the mystery surrounding the incident.
Kilimani OCPD Michael Muchiri said the driver of the bus was arrested but the conductor has gone into hiding.
“All indicators are clear the Sacco is Killeton, we already have one suspect in custody the driver…we are continuing with the investigations…,” said Muchiri.
The family of the deceased wants police to expedite investigations into the matter as they seek justice for their daughter. They want Kileton Sacco compelled to produce the rogue conductor.
Such a sad story! What did…
Such a sad story! What did the poor lady do to deserve a metal rod beating? Were there passengers in the bus? What did they do to help? In this age of cell phone cameras, we should be each other’s keeper. Snap some evidence don’t let people like this get away! And not to blame her death on the hospital but why remain unattended for several hours? Such a big shame right there! Need a reform quick!

This tragic saga is beyond sad! I don’t know this girl but i am pained and angry as hell! This could be one of our own family. where did the morals and our protective nature for other humans go? Why didn’t the driver or witnesses help? Jameni, have we reached a point where all we can do is just watch cruel incidents without any interventions? NKT! May she RIP and find justice.
If the rogue tout hit this…
If the rogue tout hit this little girl with a metal rod to show his manliness, why is he cowardly hiding? This is so unfortunate, and could have been avoided with just mere respect for women.
What a stupid conductor!…
What a stupid conductor!.. when will this guys respect mwananchi!, They should respect the restraint of safety belt abdominal the driver not to drive without making sure that every passenger have the belt on themselves. This is a young citizen who had a bright future ahead.

Michuki rules. Utu ulinda wapi? Was she the only one inside that matatu?
This should be easy to solve…
This should be easy to solve. There were scores of witnesses that can give an accurate description of the conductor. Also, driver/route/Sacco records should produce contact info of the conductor on that route/shift.
OMG!!!!..Another young life…
OMG!!!!..Another young life gone too soon…
Where did our morals disappear to?Our leaders, how long are we going to have to loose these young, talented people so carelessly? Why can’t the driver and the sacco be compelled to produce this idiot tout?
