President Uhuru Kenyatta has promised to finance the education of five children whose mother passed on while celebrating Uhuru’s re-election last Friday.
The woman in company of hundreds of locals took to the streets moments after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Kenyatta the winner against National Super Alliance’s Raila Odinga in the race for State House on Friday last week.
38-year-old Mary Wambui Kariuki from Bibilioni Village in Bahati, Nakuru County died passed on shortly after leading her neighbours in celebrating Kenyatta’s victory.
During her burial service on Thursday at her Bibilioni Village home, a letter from President Kenyatta letter was read out by Michael Kagika, the Secretary, Presidency Power of Mercy Advisory Committee.
Uhuru in the letter described Ms Kariuki as a “hard-working woman, who ensured her family was adequately provided for through micro businesses.”
“The late was hard-working in various micro businesses; a quality that should be emulated by all those who knew her,” read a part of President Kenyatta’s message.
Bahati Member of Parliament (MP), Kimani Ngunjiri, who attended the burial said that he (Pres. Kenyatta) promised to finance the education of Ms Kariuki’s five children.
