Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kirinyaga counterpart Ann Waiguru are among hundreds of Kenyans who received presidential awards and honors during this year’s Jamhuri Day Celebrations on Wednesday.
The two are among 10 Governors who were conferred with Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH) honors.
Other Governors in the list include Martin Wambora (Embu), Samuel Tunai (Narok), Cornel Rasanga (Siaya), Josphat Nanok (Turkana), Alex Tolgos (Elgeyo Marakwet), Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu), Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Joyce Laboso of Bomet.
A gazette notice dated December 11th says the awards are “in recognition of distinguished and outstanding services rendered to the nation in various capacities and responsibilities.”
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti have been given Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) First Class.
Other notable personalities who have received a presidential award as the country celebrates 55 years of independence include Nyokabi Kenyatta, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja, nominated Senator Agnes Zani, Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, PS Macharia Kamau and ODM Chairman John Mbadi.
