Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu's Employee Arrested Over False Abduction Claim

Police have arrested an employee of Deputy Chief Justice (DCJ) Philomena Mwilu for reportedly giving false information to officers.

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti says the staff by the name Cosmas Mutua Daudi claimed that he was abducted by unknown people last year, but police have since established that he lied.

In a statement recorded with the police, Mutua said he was kidnapped on November 7th 2017 while walking along Makindu Road in Nairobi by people who demanded to be shown Mwilu’s residence.

“While walking along Makindu Road and junction of Riara Road, he alleged to have been stopped by three people who were riding on a motorcycle who stopped him and asked him to show them where his boss lived,” says Kinoti.

Kinoti says that Mutua also claimed that the abductors forced him to board their motorcycle and took him to Adams Arcade before dumping him along Muringa Rd. This was after he refused to give them the information they needed.

“He alleged that he was forced to board their motorbike and was taken towards Adams Arcade then joined Elgeyo Marakwet road. They later abandoned him at Muringa road after he failed to show them the residence of the deputy chief justice,” Kinoti adds in a statement.

The DCI boss says investigations into the alleged incident established that the incident did not happen and that Mutua lied to the police.

“Investigations commenced and it was established that he gave false information and that there was no such incident.”

Mutua will be arraigned in court on Monday and its not clear if he was acting alone or under instructions.

The employee reported the incident a month after the DCJ’s bodyguard, Titus Musyoka, was shot by unknown assailants outside Marsabit Plaza along Ngong Road.
