Police in Nairobi have gunned down two suspected gangsters that are said to be part of a group that has been terrorizing city residents.
The two were shot dead on Thursday evening at the Limuru Road – Red Hill intersection in Gigiri, Nairobi.
Gigiri DCIO Daniel Muleli says the two were in a four-man gang but the rest managed to flee when they were ambushed by police officers who had been trailing them.
Three firearms and more than 100 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspects believed to be carjackers.
“Police officers challenged the driver to stop but instead they drew guns and fired at the officers. A shoot-out ensued whereby two suspects were fatally injured and two escaped on foot towards Red Hill road,” says Muleli.
The bodies of the two have been taken to City Mortuary as police hunt for the other two suspects.
