Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet Dismisses Claims of Impending Terror Attack on Nairobi Buildings

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has termed as fake letter warning of an imminent terror attack in Nairobi.

A section of local press quoted the brief purportedly released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) claiming that terrorists were targeting two major buildings in Nairobi including Times Tower and Treasury.

The police boss says the fake alert is only meant to cause fear and anxiety among Kenyans.

“I have seen that document and I can tell you that it is fake,” Boinnet told Capital FM News.

The Inspector General however says that police are always on high alert to ensure the country safe.

“The truth of the matter is that we receive credible intelligence about terror attacks and we are able to suppress them because we are always alert,” he says.

The said letter purports that a suspect  by the name Ahmed Harith Mahmoud was planning to stage the attack between October 28th and November 4th.

“Harith is an associate and logistician of Ahmed Iman Ali alias Engineer. He was born in Majengo and is currently based in Somalia.”

“The subject has been conducting reconnaissance on the above-mentioned targets and has been working in collaboration with five others.”

  1. The big question is not…
The big question is not whether Nairobi will be hit, the question is when Kenyans die in this terrorism attack who is bound to benefit? As Kenyans take their loved ones in misery to the grave, who will go laughing and smiling to the bank. While Kenya should take this threats seriously, we should also be careful not to be taken for a ride by those who want us to chase our own shadows. Let Kenya and all African countries find out where weapons that terrorists use originate from. God help Kenya and Abrika!!
