Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed reports circulating on social media that slain Kilimani woman Monica Kimani was their staff.
A spokesperson of the ministry said that reports that Ms Kimani was working at the Kenyan embassy in Juba, South Sudan are untrue.
Ms Kimani was brutality killed at her apartment in Nairobi’s Kilimani area under unclear circumstances hours, after she reportedly returned from South Sudan. Her family says she was a businessperson.
The 29-year-old woman was laid to rest at her parents home in Gilgil, Nakuru county on Friday. Her lifeless body was found by her brother dumped in a bathtub with her throat slit.
Her father, Paul Ngarama, said she was running a family business Millipaul General Trading, in Juba South Sudan.
Detectives have since arrested Joseph Irungu alias Jowie in connection to Monica’s killing. He was charged earlier this week and will remain in custody for 10 days to allow police complete investigations.
Jowie is the fiancée of Citizen Television news anchor and reporter Jacque Maribe.
