NASA Not Aware of Wetang'ula Exit, Mudavadi Says

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi says National Super Alliance (Nasa) is not aware of Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula exit from the coalition.

Mudavadi said Nasa was yet to receive any official communication from Ford-Kenya on its decision to abandon the coalition.

On Monday, Wetang’ula announced Ford-Kenya had officially resolved to ditch Nasa after a meeting with party members in Mtwapa, Kilifi County.

Speaking in Kakamega County, Mudavadi said the coalition leadership will convene a high level meeting in an attempt to save it from collapse.

“To leave Nasa, all parties must write official letters indicating their exit. Presently, I am not aware of any party that has written to the Registrar of Political Parties saying they have left NASA,” said Mudavadi.

“We have challenges, but we will discuss them in-house so as to present a strong opposition.”

Addressing the press on Monday, Wetang’ula cited betrayal by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga as reason for his exit from Nasa.

“In my view, NASA is now a moribund organization. NASA is history. We were in NASA as FORD-Kenya in a coalition of the willing, we suffered a massive betrayal by our presidential candidate and as a party we are now focused on how to strengthen our grassroots support and to strengthen our national appeal,” said the Bungoma Senator, who was a NASA co-principal.
