Migori Senator Ben Oluoch has passed away in Nairobi.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) first time MP died while receiving treatment at the MP Shah Hospital, Nairobi a few minutes past midnight.
Family spokesman Mark Okundi said the former Ramogi Fm and KBC radio presenter succumbed to throat cancer, which he has been battling for long. The body has been moved to Lee Funeral Home.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Migori Senator Ben Oluoch Okelo.”
“His death has robbed Migori of a true son who cherished peace and championed for unity leadership.
“On behalf of my family and the people of Migori, I send sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Ben. May he rest in peace,” Okundi said.
He had recently been treated and discharged from an Indian hospital, his brother told the Nation.
“He had been in India for two months and was treated. He went back for review and his doctors discovered a tumour that had not healed,” his brother Dennis Ojwang’ said.
“He was treated again and brought back to the country. He has been recuperating at MP Shah hospital. Unfortunately we lost him at 12.30 this morning.”
Oluoch clinched the Migori Senator seat during the 2017 elections after defeating his rivals by a landslide.
He marshalled 68,194 votes while his closest challenger, Gordon Odhiambo Ogola got 28,696 votes.
The headline reads Migori…
The headline reads Migori Senator. Then the article says “the first time ODM MP”. Pole kwa familia though.
