Nairobi Woman Rep. Esther Passaris Wants Governor Mike Sonko to Pick Her as Deputy Governor

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris now says she’s ready to resign from her position and become Governor Mike Sonko’s Deputy.

Passaris noted that her partnership with Nairobi Governor Sonko would advance the unity being sought by President Kenyatta and Opposition chief Raila Odinga through their March 9th handshake.

“The governor needs a deputy and if he cannot find one, then I am willing to take the position to help him and in the spirit of the handshake we can have a Jubilee-Nasa partnership,” she said.

However, the first time MP issued a number of conditions for her to fill the vacant Nairobi Deputy Governor seat. Passaris said she would only accept to deputize Sonko if the Governor gives her specific duties to undertake.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP said she wants to be in charge of environment, water, education and trade departments at County Hall, if she is to fill the position.

“I can only go there if I am given clear departments to run. I want environment, water, education and trade. I have to have an impact and I can achieve this if I have the executives and make sure they work,” the former Adopt A light Chief Executive officer had stated.

Sonko has already nominated self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general Miguna Miguna, who is currently in Canada. The Nairobi County Assembly is expected to debate his nomination after it resumed sessions on Monday.

The seat fell vacant following the resignation of Polycarp Igathe in January, citing failure to win the Governor’s trust.

  1. Passaris has nothing to…
Passaris has nothing to offer Nairobi as Deputy Governor. Zero, nada; no ideas. To rescue what ails Nairobi, the national government must step in and take over crucial operations. Sonko ameshidwa.

Passaris I trust you can make a huge impact..tge adopt a light was a success further from your approach of specific arrear shows you are Equal to the task Ivstand behind you to make Nairobi great again given a chance..

    • Adopt a light may have been…
Adopt a light may have been successful but governing and running a city in all corners of it is not a walk in the park. She may have succeeded but that is about 1% of what she would have to confront and again all of Nairobi not the Westlands, Ngong Road, Runda Karen enclaves. Nairobi needs a business Manager not a politician. When that happens, then Nairobi will shine ( si they vote for me ) . Unfortunately, Nairobi leadership is so deeply entangled in National politics, I doubt Nairobi will ever shine , ever!
