Governor Mike Sonko has returned to Nairobi after he fled to his rural home last week for fear of his life.
Sonko has been running the city from his palatial residence in Mua Hills, Machakos County after the government withdrew several police bodyguards attached to him. Sonko said he had learnt of a scheme by a top government official to eliminate him and the withdrawal of his security at the time was not a mere coincidence.
However, on Sunday, the flamboyant Governor returned to the city and inspected ongoing repairs on roads in different estates.
In a statement sent to the press, Sonko announced plans to set up new bus termini in a decongestion drive and rehabilitate roads and pavements within the city.
“Our focus is to have functional infrastructure in Nairobi. With these new centres, we will be able to reduce the chaotic traffic congestion within Nairobi,” Sonko said in a statement sent to newsrooms by deputy Director of Communication Elkana Jacob.
“The construction in Railways terminus also includes fixing of the drainage system that was causing flooding during the rainy season,” he said.
“I am appealing for patience from Nairobi residents as we strive to fix the dilapidated roads in Nairobi even as we wait for the financial year in order to cover all areas that are in need of our attention,” said Sonko.
Sonko said that his life is still in danger, but stated that he will make his own personal security arrangements. He asked Nairobi residents to protect him.
“Even if they are reinstated, I don’t need their security, I will ask them to go back, I will make my private arrangement. For now I am consulting my advisors in the county. Let me focus on service delivery,” he divulged.
“When Raila Amolo Odinga’s security personnel was withdrawn, did his life continue or not? Those other NASA leaders who had their security withdrawn, did their lives continue or not?” posed Governor Sonko.
“Even in Nairobi County, life with citizens will continue. I believe the citizens are enough security. I do not need that police security anymore.”
Where is Miguna to help…
Where is Miguna to help streamline and guide this governor who is behaving like a sissy. Miguna is the only person who can okowa Kenya from the current state of corruption which now involves Raila and the rest of the so called opposition and the sooner we put our emotions aside regarding this, the more we will begin to understand why a whole government would feel threatened by this simple lawyer. Jubilee and NASA are a huge disappoinment, tombocrats as @Guest 1 would call them. Miguna get that passport going, come back soon and help liberate Kenya from these despots.
