A section of Members of Parliament drawn from different regions have vowed to rally behind Deputy President William Ruto’s bid for Presidency in 2022.
Speaking during the burial of the late Baringo South MP Grace Jelagat Kipchoim in Marigat, Baringo County on Saturday, the leaders also asked Baringo senator Gideon Moi to drop his state house bid and endorse Ruto, who is favorite to succeed President Kenyatta.
“Ruto will be Jubilee’s presidential candidate in 2022,” Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa said.
“Do not to listen to the propaganda that was started by the Central Organisation of Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli,” he added.
His sentiments were echoed by his Gatundu South counterpart Moses Kuria, who dismissed Moi’s presidential bid, noting that the era of hereditary politics in Kenya is long gone.
“Nothing will stop God’s plan; this is hustlers’ time,” Kuria stated.
On her part, Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege said Ruto has proved that he has all it takes to succeed President Uhuru.
“We have worked with you, and we have seen that you can move this country to the next level,” she said.
“Let the Deputy President go ahead and clear the path for us,” Kuresoi North MP Moses Cheboi said.
Other legislators who echoed similar sentiments include; Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet Senator), Irungu Kang’ata (Murang’a Senator), Naomi Shaaban (Taita Taveta MP) and Rachel Shebesh (Chief Administrative Secretary).
