Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has declared his support for the proposal to amend the Constitution to alter the country’s leadership and government structure.
Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is pushing for a referendum to create the position of an executive Prime Minister and introduce a three-tier system of government.
Endorsing the push, Musyoka said the proposed changes will ensure equity and regional balance in the governance of the country.
“We need to have a serious re-look at the Constitution. The amendment of the Constitution is the all-important thing now, this should be a moment to advance the unity, peace and development of the country,” Kalonzo said.
Speaking during Wiper party’s National Executive Council/Parliamentary Group retreat at the Elementaita Lodge on Friday, Kalonzo said the amendments should be based on the Bomas Draft of the Constitution, where every community will be represented in government.
The National Super Alliance (Nasa) co-principal announced that Wiper will be re-branded and strengthened at the grassroots level in preparation for 2022 elections, where the party will front a presidential candidate.
He asked President Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga to use their handshake to forgive all those facing political cases in courts and have their cases withdrawn.
“As a show of goodwill, all those pending criminal prosecutions against politicians, and particularly concerning the Pangani Six, should be dropped and a nolle prosequi entered,” he said.
Watermelon Kalonzo
Watermelon Kalonzo
A true watermelon indeed!
A true watermelon indeed!
Kalonzo should be one to…
Kalonzo should be one to retire and allow other Kamba leaders to air their views. Any of those who have been in leadership since Independence should be ready to shelf their ambitions. Kenya has stalled and it needs new direction, energy and new thinking. Kalonzo, no one can take you seriously. Tomorrow if the administration changes its position, yours would be changed too. “No msimamo”. You are a lawyer, tell us what needs to be changed. Is this the same country you said should go like Sudan? Oh my…We surely need new leadership come 2022.
