The recent decision by opposition leader Raila Odinga to seek peace with those considered his political nemesis in the past has left supporters wondering whether he will give a fifth shot at the Presidency in 2022.

Last Thursday private meeting with retired President Daniel arap Moi at his rural residence in Kabarak and several other visits to his office by Mt Kenya leaders including Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has left many speculating.

While a majority are of the view that Raila was “swallowed” by the March 9th handshake with President Uhuru, the opposition chief could be executing a plan. His recent actions have stirred his Nyanza backyard amid speculations over his 2022 plans.

This week, former Nyeri senator Mutahi Kagwe sparked debate after declaring that he would like to see Odinga contest for the country’s top seat in 2022. Mr Kagwe said it is unlikely that Odinga would not give another shot at the Presidency.

“None in Kenya has exuded presidential qualities surpassing Raila,” Kagwe claimed.

In his political bedrock of Nyanza, all indications are clear that Odinga will once against run for State House. A group of MPs from the region on Saturday told the Standard that residents still believe in Odinga’s leadership and would want to have his name on the ballot in the next elections.

“Anybody asking Raila to retire from active politics is an enemy of the Luo and will meet our wrath. The AU narrative is a propaganda and should be treated as such,” said Alego-Usonga MP Samwel Atandi.

“I think 2022 will be the final battle in elections when Raila will ascend to the presidency,” said Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo.

  1. This picture looks weird…
This picture looks weird. Two old folks at the end of their lives having even the slightest thought that they can spearhead the lives of 40 million young energetic Kenyans. This is a weird dream that will and cannot be fulfilled. Even the gods have said no. Not the church, not foreigners not the weirdo dreamers can make it come true. Watch Hegel happen. The real God of Kenya has better plans. They will unfold slowly before our eyes.
