Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka says he will also be visiting retired President Daniel Arap Moi in his rural residence in Kabarak, Nakuru county for blessings ahead of his bid for presidency in 2022.
Speaking to journalists in Nairobi on Friday after he returned to the country from an election observation mission in Azerbaijan, Musyoka poured cold water on opposition leader Raila Odinga’s recent visit to Moi, saying that Kenyans should not read too much from the meeting between the two.
“I must congratulate my brother Raila Odinga because I saw him going to see Mzee Moi. I also want to go and see Mzee Moi. We must now open this space. We also must respect our elders and go and seek their opinion,” Kalonzo said at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Friday.
Odinga held a private meeting with Moi in Kabarak on Thursday, but details of the visit remain scanty. Raila’s visit Moi came a month after he pledged to work with President Kenyatta in uniting the country.
Kalonzo added: “Raila going to see Mzee Moi is a very good thing. I will try and seek appointment and do so, and other people will do the same.I think Uhuru should also go to see Mzee Moi because I do not think he saw him after he came back from Israel.”
“We must show that we care even for the older statesmen. If you read something beyond that, I really do not understand.”
