Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o Reveals How He Managed the County from a Hospital Bed in the US

Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has revealed how he was able to monitor daily operations of the county from the United States for several weeks.

Nyong’o was away to the US for eight weeks where he had been admitted at a hospital after undergoing a successful surgery.

The Governor says he used Skype, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and other online platforms to supervise the performance of his deputy Mathews Owili, executive committee and county assembly; as well as ensure that there was no lacuna.

“There was no power vacuum. I was in charge and was being briefed by my deputy and ministers most of the time. I chaired Cabinet meetings via Skype. We called and texted one another on a daily basis. It worked well,” he told Saturday Standard at his office.

Nyong’o said he was so concerned that he spent most of his time on his computer and tablet to ensure all was well back home. This was in contrary to doctor’s advice for enough rest.

He was at a medical facility in San Francisco where he underwent a hip bone operation after sustaining an injury during an accident in Nairobi early last year.

He attributed the smooth running of the county in his absence to the competent and well-educated members of the executive committee.

“This is the advantage of going to school. We used virtual conferences to manage the county,” he said.

“I am fully back on duty and we are implementing the many projects we promised in our manifesto. Kisumu has taken a new bright look. Most of the projects we promised in the first 100 days are either complete or are almost being finalized,” he added.

Will Nyong’o also run the affairs of his private property(Kisumu County) from his grave when he expires?

That is a sign of weakness. If you are on medical leave delegate your duties to your deputy. That is why you have a deputy. Some people think they are the only ones who can do the job but once they die their job is filled in the next minute and the operation of the county proceeds as normal.

Macro manager, worst kind of boss ever!! My sympathy is with his deputy performing under such an insecure person. If you train your juniors well AND whip up their practice/business confidence and trust, you really don’t need to be checking on their performance whilst off sick. Reflects very badly on YOUR own PERFORMANCE.

Ha ha ha does he know skype, insta, slack, google hangouts etc have been modus operand for the world circa early 2000s. So nothing to brag about Nyongo’. Yes business can be conducted anywhere in 2018, nothing to write home about
