Sections of roads in Nairobi were rendered impassable following floods caused by heavy downpour witnessed in different parts of the country in the past few days.
Most affected areas included sections of the Central Business District, Westlands, South C estate, Thika Superhighway and Industrial Area.
Incidents of fallen trees, flooded roundabouts, stalled trucks, long traffic jams and submerged cars were witnessed in the capital city on Friday evening.
This has once again exposed the glaring inability of Nairobi County Government to handle floods. In 2015, former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero used Sh50 million to unblock drains to avert flooding; but floods have continued to wreck havoc in the Kenyan capital each time it rains heavily.
Governor Mike Sonko-led administration had promised to deal with the cynical flooding at the ward level, but that has not so far been realised.
The meteorological department had earlier this week warned Kenyans to expect heavy rainfall coupled by sudden floods in different regions of the country.
