Opposition chief Raila Odinga alleges that President Kenyatta has refused to engage in dialogue with him, despite giving him enough time to do so.
Speaking in Vihiga county on Saturday during burial of 14 family members who perished in the Kamukuywa road accident last week, Odinga said he has run out of patience on talks with the President.
“We had been pressed upon by Church leaders to put on hold our plans for the swearing-in to give room for dialogue, which we did. But Uhuru Kenyatta was not interested, and now our patience is running out,” Odinga said.
The National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, who was flanked by his co-principal Musalia Mudavadi, further noted that plans to have him take oath of office as people’s president are still underway, stating that the coalition will not be cowed by threats of charging him with treason if he is sworn-in.
“I have been charged with treason before. If this is what must happen for electoral justice to be realized in Kenya, then we are ready,” he said.
Odinga assured supporters that they will reach Canaan and urged them to stand with the coalition in its quest for electoral justice.
“Uhuru thinks Kenyans have given up, he is wrong because we shall go ahead with our plans, and the committee will give us more details of what to expect,” Raila said.

Am sure Mr Kenyatta would dialogue with you but when you start talking about fresh polls, to the entire country the elections are over, you lost the election and you know it. As for electoral justice, the constitution spells out how to do it, problem arises when some people feel that they have no chance of losing. When you vie for a seat IEBC doesn’t guarantee anybody that they will win, its a risk you take, you either win or lose it’s that simple. In a democratic election, the winner takes all. Mr Odinga you of all people should have known this when you drafted the constitution, nothing has changed since then.
