President Uhuru Meets Chief Justice David Maraga for First Time Since Nullification of His Victory

Chief Justice David Maraga was among leaders who attended the 8th Mashujaa Day celebrations at Uhuru Park in Nairobi on Friday presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

This was the first time President Uhuru Kenyatta and the head of Judiciary shared a podium since the nullification of August 8th presidential election by Supreme Court Judges led by CJ Maraga.

Chief Justice and Judiciary skipped the official opening of the 12th Parliament by President Uhuru last month, which was interpreted that there was a rift between the executive and Judiciary.

President Uhuru Kenyatta launched an attack at Maraga and other apex court judges for cancelling his August victory, and accused them of strangling the will of 15 million Kenyans.

Also in attendance was Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu.

Other leaders present included Deputy President William Ruto, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, his senate counterpart Ken Lusaka, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko and Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu.

In his speech at the event, President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a warning on those planning to disrupt October 26th election, saying the government will firmly deal with them.

“For those who thrive in chaos and relish anarchy, your days are numbered. The law will take its course and sanction you accordingly,” he warned.

“Those who wish to vote must be allowed to vote and those who wish not to vote must be allowed not to vote.”

“My administration will not allow a repeat of the painful past where lives and properties were lost. We vowed never to repeat the regrettable events that almost sunk us. We must, therefore, wake up and say “NO” to any misleading leader out to plunge Kenya into chaos,” said Kenyatta. “The security apparatus has been enhanced and appropriately deployed to maintain law and order.”

  1. Uhuru, have the courage to…
Uhuru, have the courage to apologize to Maraga and the people of Kenya for publicly calling him a “thug.” That is not the language a mature head of state should address the head of another branch of the government – the judiciary. After you apologize, please tell the people of Kenya the people responsible for the death of Jacob Juma and Chris Msando!

    • What is there to apologise…
What is there to apologise for? He is a crook and remains one along with the other one who can not read her own judgement and has no resect or regard for Chebukati and IEBC. Did you see how she read her judgement the other day? IEBC is also an independent body. Does is not also deserve respect? If so start by telling Raila to leave IEBC alone. In any case would you apologize to a thief for stealing from you? Get serious stop payukaring.

Well, Well, It is a good sign Maraga and Uhuru met. Hopefully, the Maraga team realizes the mess they created by annulling a clear victory and will not repeat is again. Kenya is bigger than anyone of us.

  3. This Maraga and his 4…
This Maraga and his 4 wakoras lit the fire they cannot put off. Politics have taken over what they ignited and it does not look good. The constitution & laws works in a country where there is peace otherwise they are pages of written materials accumulation dust on the shelves.

We Forgive Maraga, He himself does not know what went on. The power that swept Tunisia, Egypt and Libya (North Africa) and the middle East,Syria came through kenya after elections. But the fervent prayers of the righteous has availed much. Peace Peace.

  6. Good example/show you may…
Good example/show you may disagree on principle, but you have so much in common. As individuals, we are all humane and compassionate. Wait until we wear the armour of our offices, titles, ranks, social-economic or political status, walls are erected and wars are planned against each other. As the good book teaches us, let us be our brothers/sisters keeper regardless of stereotype, hype and political affiliations.

Odinga, now that is how MEN deal with their beef. This is how a MAN meets another. Handshake, lakini with a squinted eye…Good on you Uhuru, you let all that pent up beef as you take your supporters forward. Excellent!
