President Uhuru Kenyatta has refuted to claims by the opposition that he is spending millions of shillings to ‘buy’ election losers to join Jubilee from National Super Alliance (NASA).
In a statement issued by State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu, the President said that the defectors were only honoring calls by their supporters to switch sides and that the President would never use money on such endeavors.
“It is condescending to assert that one can only change their political allegiance when bought. I can assure you that no money has been used to influence anyone. There are pressing needs of the people that the President is busy addressing. No penny would be spent on such,” he said.
Last week, Nasa leader Raila Odinga alleged that the President and his Jubilee party had set aside what he called “defectors fund” to woo Nasa leaders to join the ruling party. The claims came in the wake of defections by leaders from the opposition to Jubilee after the August 8th election.
The former Prime Minister asserted similar claims on Sunday, saying that the defectors would not legitimize Uhuru’s presidency.
“He (Mr Kenyatta) was here recently for the auction of those who lost in the elections. Uhuru should be told that leadership cannot be bought,” Odinga said in Mombasa on Sunday on returning from the UK.
A number of opposition leaders including former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar, former governors Isaac Ruto( Bomet), David Nkedianye (Kajiado), John Mruttu (Taveta) and Moses Akaranga (Vihiga) have ditched opposition for Jubilee.
Uhuru has openly admitted…
Uhuru has openly admitted that he is incapable of dealing with massive corruption that Kenyans have witnessed since independence in 1963, why would he want to be reelected?
IEBC failed miserably during the last election to conduct a fair election, why do they want to conduct another election? Why should they be allowed to be in charge of another one?
Raila and Uhuru have been in the Kenyan politics for a long time. Why do they want to make politics their lifetime occupation? It’s time for them to permanently retire from politics. When? Today!
Long live the Republic of Kenya without the incompetent IEBC, Raila and Uhuru in politics.
Oh, is NASA justifying their…
Oh, is NASA justifying their own Baby whiny who was photographed giving one-thousand notes to NASA followers? Too much against theirs just a few shillings? Why didn’t NASA condemn their own? Hypocrisy!
