Police on Monday morning temporarily arrested and detained Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho at the Nyali Police Station.
Joho was taken in by police following a confrontation over alleged land grabbing, causing tension at the station.
The vocal governor in company of a few county officials arrived at Nyali Police station demanding for the release of seven County Inspectorate officers who had been apprehended while conducting demolitions in the coastal city, leading to his arrest.
Joho claimed that Mombasa police boss was colluding with other police officers to grab public land in Mombasa. He alleged that police officers were working on orders from above.
“I have established that the Police Commander here and his officers here are simply trying to aid someone to grab public land,” said Joho.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy leader was later released after the incident.
A governor being arrested by…
A governor being arrested by the police! Uhuru has successfully resurrected the old KANU again! He should resign, retire, or be impeached. So many people suffered, killed,and arrested by the old KANU. Don’t forget our treasury is still compensating in monetary terms our heroes of the second liberation of Kenya.
For goodness sake, Uhuru start talking to the most successful president of Kenya, Mwai Kibaki and stop getting any piece of advice from Toroitich.
Imara, have you ever thought…
Imara, have you ever thought of seeking a political post?. I think you can become a superb leader. The presidency of South Sudan is up for grab next year. I would advise you to give it a sort
Yes, a Governor if he…
Yes, a Governor if he misbehaves should be arrested,he is not above the law. This drug dealer Joho loves attention so much he probably asked police to arrest him for two mins. Mombasa is in dire need of fixing yet with him is drama drama all the time.
I would like to take a…
I would like to take a moment to thank all our heroes of the first and second liberation. These people made tremendous sacrifices to improve the current lives of the many millions of Kenyans. We just know a few names while thousands are resting in peace in unmarked graves. We don’t even know where our national hero Ndugu Dedan Kimathi is burried.
Last week, Ndugu Matiba asked to be compensated over 900 million shillings for being victimized by Ndugu Toroitich. He is not the first to be awarded a large sum of money for standing tall and challenging the government of Toroitich. Many more others lost their jobs, property, lives, and many were rendered useless by the government of the day. I know a few of you are tired of my constant reminding the current people in power that had it not been for our heroes of the second liberation, Toroitich like Ndugu Mugabe of Zimbabwe would still be in power. The name Uhuru or Ruto would not have been known. Let us daily take a minute or two to thank all our first and second heroes of liberation of our country.
A word of advice Ndugu Uhuru, please take a minute or two and call your brother Ndugu Barack Obama. He received more death threats than all the former presidents of the USA combined. He again got more insults than all the former presidents combined. However, he focused on the economy and revived the USA economy that had practically died. No one is in jail for insulting him for all the 8 years that he was in power. How many people are you going to arrest? Is your new job description arresting anyone calling you a name? Why don’t you take sometime and find out those who killed Jacob Juma and Chris Msando and arrest them instead of wasting our national resources listening to anyone calling you a name! It is the death of Msando that made it possible for the nation to be in the present crisis!
The reason I would like you (Uhuru) to talk to Barack Obama and Mwai Kibaki is simply that, they will advice you how to remain focused on your job, and improve the Kenyan economy instead of wasting your time listening to any Tom, Dick, and Harry calling you names! As a matter of fact, if you had the power to catch all those who call you names, I do believe that by now, over 20 million Kenyans would be in jail now. For goodness sake,
PLEASE STOP IT!
@Dr. Honi Kanene;…
@Dr. Honi Kanene;
Thank you for your kind words. However, as a true nationalist who witnessed my mother’s blood flow during our first liberation of Kenya, I would not take your suggestion about going to Sudan. I am in Kenya to stay.
What is lacking in many African governments is the government “watch dogs.” These are people who are courageous enough to keep our (servants) elected members of parliament including all other elective public offices serving the people. These are the people who rescued Kenya from the grip that Ndugu Toroitich had kept the people of Kenya for 24 years.
As a famous British historian Lord Acton once said:
” Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” See what Ndugu Pombe Magufuli is doing in Tanzania, he has become something else. Now Uhuru has joined him in jailing anyone who writes or says something negative that both don’t like. This is wrong!
Imara. Respect, but you are…
Imara. Respect, but you are starting to sound like a broken record – repetitive and annoying. I note you are no longer impartial as you appear to have it in for Uhuru.
@Sukari…
@Sukari.
I have met many young people born and raised in Kenya who have no clue about the history of our nation. I feel obligated to touch their souls with the information that I share with my fellow brothers and sisters from Kenya.
Waswahili husema, ” Elimu haina mwisho.” Mimi nawashukuru Wakenya wote waliojitolea mhanga kulikomboa taifa letu.
